Company Fire Officer Certificate

The company fire officer is responsible for the administration and supervision of a fire company for fire suppression, hazardous material response, rescue operations and emergency medical services. The certificate is only available for current firefighters certified as a Firefighter III or an Advanced Technician Firefighter, through the Illinois State Fire Marshal. This certificate will give the student the classes required for certification as a “Company Fire Officer”, through the Illinois State Fire Marshal. A passing grade is in all classes to enable students to sit for the certification exam through the Illinois State Fire Marshal.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the Company Fire Officer Certificate, the graduate will be able to describe:
- The roles and responsibilities of an Illinois State Fire Marshall Instructor I.
- The components and key terms of the National Incident Management System is according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
- The roles and responsibilities of an Illinois State Fire Marshall Company Fire Officer.
