Distance Learning

Triton College offers a variety of classes through distance learning. This delivery method allows the student to complete online courses with limited or no required on-campus visits. An online course provides the same course content as a face-to-face classroom course. Triton College offers many online General Education courses and Career and Technical Education courses designed to provide flexibility for students to complete programs of study.

State Authorization and Complaint Resolution

Triton College participates in the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA).  This arrangement authorizes the State of Illinois to take part in a system of interstate reciprocity that establishes national standards on distance education.  Out-of-state students interested in enrolling in any of Triton College’s online programs must reside in states that are part of the SARA agreement.  States that are part of the SARA agreement can be accessed at www.nc-sara.org/sara-states-institutions. In order to resolve concerns related to a complaint, out-of-state students enrolled in online classes at Triton College should attempt to resolve any issues or complaints with College faculty and administration first.  Information about Student Complaint Procedures can be found in the Triton College Student Handbook.  In addition, the U.S. Department of Education requires that institutions offering distance learning provide students and prospective students with contact information for filing complaints with any relevant state official or agency that would handle student complaints.  A directory of student complaint processes by state and agency can be accessed at SHEEO (State Higher Education Executive Officers) www.sheeo.org.  You may also contact the Illinois Board of Higher Education or the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, Higher Learning Commission.
