Concentration of courses that prepare students who are interested in transferring to a four-year school for a bachelor’s degree in criminal or social justice. Provides background for students interested in law, law enforcement, juvenile work, probation services, parole services, work release or halfway house counseling.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the Associate in Science Degree (Criminal Justice Administration) emphasis, the graduate will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate the fundamental concepts regarding the operation of the American criminal justice system.
  2. Identify the fundamental elements of law and how they apply to the judicial process.
  3. Discuss the procedures that must be followed for the enforcement of law, the processing of an individual through the court system, and the treatment of offenders within the correctional system.
  4. Differentiate between the adult and juvenile criminal justice systems.
  5. Explain the progression of technology and forensics in criminal justice.
  6. Apply historical and modern-day theories to explain criminal behavior.
  7. Develop skills for critical thinking and professional writing.
