Barber Certificate
Total Program Credits: 50
The Barber Certificate offers students a comprehensive education in the art and science of barbering. Students will have the opportunity to gain skills in haircutting, shaving, styling, chemical techniques, facial hair design, and shaving. In addition, the Barber certificate requires 50 credit hours, equivalent to the 1500 clock hours required by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. Upon successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to apply for the Illinois Licensed Barber examination.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the Barber Certificate program, the graduate will be able to:
- Communicate professionally in the workplace.
- Develop an employment portfolio.
- Demonstrate technical proficiency in hair cutting and styling, chemical services, product usage, skin services, and shaving.
- Create personalized haircuts that suit the client’s preference, style, and facial features.
- Practice decontamination and infection control procedures.
- Prepare to successfully pass the Illinois Licensed Barber exam.
