The Theatre Arts curriculum outlined here, is well-suited for students interested in theatre as an artistic form of human communication. Students will explore aesthetic and practical aspects of the theatre process. These courses are especially appropriate for students who are interested in pursuing careers in such aspects of theatre as acting, directing, producing, stagecraft, scenic design, stage management and education.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the Associate in Arts Degree (Theatre Arts) emphasis, the graduate will be able to:

  • analyze a play within the aspects of literature and theatrical performance;
  • define basic theatre terminology;
  • evaluate the effectiveness of specific oral communication transactions; and
  • identify theater’s place within social, cultural, and artistic contexts currently and throughout history.
